Last Weekend of Duck Killin'

Well well well, the season has finally become to an end and the looking forward to the next season has begun. This weekend I went to Murray to go hunting with my brother for the last weekend to hunt. My dad and a few others were planning to come along as well but with the ice and the snow they decided that it may not be the best idea. One day we went out there and only killed one duck all day long and after I had been sitting there I was picking up decoys and a buffle-head landed within 20 feet of me and I didn't even have my gun on me. The next day we decided to go a little later when the sun was already up beings it would be safer with all of the snow. It was a good thing cause when we got there the next morn, we would have been able to get the boat in but not back out due to the fact that the ramp was too icy. Anyways we took the boat back to my brothers house and then drove back down to the lake and found a place off the shore that we would have been able to hunt. Hunted until dark and we ended up killing 6 ducks, and when it was time to start picking everything back up another buffle-head came in and landed beside me, just like the day before. So this weekend I learned a valuable lesson that I will never not have my gun on me when I picking up. Now time that duck season is over hard core triathlon training has begun.

Snow Day

Last Tuesday or Yesterday was a snow day that I very much enjoyed. I woke at 7:00 A.M. with my mother telling me that I could stay in bed a little longer due to that fact that School had been canceled. I have Tech College in the morning at the OCTC main campus but earlier that morning when my father went to work he called and said that the roads were really icy and that he and my mother agreed that it wasn't safe for me to be driving on the roads expecially with the driving record that I have. I have fallen asleep at the wheel, resulting in a minor reck; I have recieved a speeding ticket for 22mph over; and also I have spun out of control on a black ice spot on the road. All of these resulting in pricy expenses, I didn't want another experience like this. Next time it could be my entire vehicle or worse my life, not necessarily for my sake, but the sake of my family. Anyways I called my tech teacher to tell him that I wouldn't be making it to school and he completely understood and agreed. Me and my mom hund out all day watching a movie, playing a game and making lunch together. We just had a good time until it was time for me to go to work at 3:15. Then I work the rest of the night until it was time to come home at 10:00.

Ugly Words

There are words out there that are just plan out ugly. You speak of them and they don’t sound like they could possibly have anything good about them, and usually most of the time that stands true. Are these words really ugly or are they to us just because we associate them with something that disgust us and makes us think of the nastiness of them. Some words that I think sound ugly would be the word “ugly” it just makes you think of a foul picture. Other word that is ugly to me is the words “vomit, puke, phlegm, slaughter, snot, damp, moist, and mucus.” These words stand out as ugly to me because vomit and puke is just chunks of acid and old food. Phlegm is the nasty yellow slim you cough out of your mouth and snot the same out of the nose. Damp and moist makes you think of misery and from when your hands are all pruned up. Slaughter makes you think of blood and gore. Mucus is just who knows what, that nasty yellow stuff. These are just a few of all of the nasty, ugly words that are in our language, but as you may have noticed they all represent things that are nast to us as humans.

Dog Advice

—If a dog could give advice what would it be?
I think that if a dog could give advice to us I think that they would tell us to grow some fur in the winter because it really helps to keep them warm and for all of the hunters out there it would really come in handy beings they (the dogs) can jump into the water in the dead of winter and swim for fun. They would also say that the fur is really awful in the summer when the sun is out and they are getting roasted. I think that a dogs advice would also be to become a house dog and mind your owner so that you can stay in cause the flees are horrible. The dog would say that be good to your owner no matter what he does because he is the one that takes care of you, unless he abuses you then use the teeth that you were given and take his hand off. Man is dog’s best friend and no matter what you do to that dog, it will still love you. Dogs can love many different people, but they have one owner and will take to that one no matter what.

Bad Ideas

There are many things out there that many people attempt to do that should probably be kept out of; these are usually bad ideas no matter how they turn out, they could turn for the good and just be plan awesome (which is how they usually turn out for me) or they could and most likely end up hurting yourself or someone else. A lot of people would say that running 10 miles and biking 20 miles the first day back from training after a couple of months would be a bad idea (but I guess I am just really dedicated.) Also biking in the rain is said to be a bad idea, it’s suppose to be safer to run on ice than bike in the rain, (which I almost did but ran out of daylight.) Jumping off a 50 foot cliff into Kentucky Lake could also a bad idea (thankfully I made a good jump.) Waxing your upper lip or anything for that matter is probably a bad idea. (not that that is something that I have done.) A few bad ideas that I found while working the google on the Internet machine would include: a glass hammer, a concrete parachute, a three-way mirror, un-bounce ping-pong balls, helium filled space-hopper, clap activated stereo, helicopter ejector seat, and also a flameproof firelighter.

Duck Hunt Gone All Right

Last Thursday my dad went down to Murray to hunt with my brother. It was super cold and from the last couple of weeks when the temperature had gotten down below zero, and snowed. Anyways they went hunting on Kentucky Lake were rarely does any of it freeze over. The water was a lot lower than usual and so in the shallows the lake had frozen over. Kentucky Lake is really not all that deep like many think, except in the barge channel it is about 80 feet deep. The lake was about half frozen over and was thick enough to walk on. They saw a ton of ducks and geese and ended up killing 13 ducks and 1 goose. This day couldn't have gotten much better for them unless me and Earl was there and was able to kill a bigger limit. They limited out on ducks and also got an extra bonus-a goose. The limits per person is everyone can kill 6 ducks, 2 Canadian geese, plus Mergansers, Speckled Bellies, and Snows. The ducks is our main quota and they reached it that day.

Duck Hunt Gone All Wrong

--After the great day that my dad and brother just had, we had extreme warm temperatures for this time of year and all of that ice had melted by the time me and Earl had gotten there on Friday night. The three of us went hunting the following Saturday. Getting up at 4 A.M. to get out in the lake and set up before daylight. About 20 minutes before shooting time the fog rolled in and were couldn’t see anything until it was just about too late. The fog was so thick that it didn’t burn off until 10:30 A.M. Then finally it started to warm up a little due to the fact that the sun was beaming down on us. According to the weather man we were suppose to have 5 to 10 mph winds that would have been perfect, to keep the water moving and the ducks in the air. But from the last couple day of warmth the ice had melted everywhere and allowing the ducks to spread out on to ponds and other lakes. We didn’t see hardly anything and only shot at a couple of coots that as I’m concerned the nasty black birds of the duck world. This was a day that we were going to put our numbers over a hundred.

Snow board-ski trip

Last Friday Night through Saturday morning I was suppose to go snow skiing and snow boarding with my church youth group, but my youth Minister cam up sick and the trip was canceled causing us to not to get to go. I look forward to this trip every year because it is so great and fun, also I like to go during the night when the moon is out when there are not as many people and the sun is not glaring off the snow into your eye's. The ski resort that we go to is Paoli Peaks in Indiana. It has real snow when it actually snows, but during the times that it is not snowing there, they have snow machines that take water from the creek below and make it into snow. The trip has been rescheduled for this coming Saturday during the day, but I am planning to go duck hunting because the season goes out at the end of the month. So probably next month in Febuary me, Zach, Earl, Hayward, and Brittany are going to go one night so that I will still be able to get to go. I will probably enjoy this more anyways because it will be with people that are closer to me in my life.

Possibilities

-"The Old Year has gone. Let us dead past bury its own dead. The New Year has taken possession of the clock of time. All hail the duties and possibilities of the coming twelve months!"--Edward Payson Powell
--The Possibilities of the coming twelve month is that I will be a High School graduate and most excited at that. Also I plan on killing several more ducks before the season goes out. I plan to go snow boarding and skiing this coming Friday night and Saturday morning at Paoli Peaks, an all night ski trip with my church youth group. I will continue working at the Malco theaters for probably a few more months and then hope to move on to a better place of employment that will pay more than just minimum wage. I hope to get on with an electrical contractor to help with continued education in college. By the end of this coming school year I hope to have a year of college content behind my belt and hope to get ahead in my studies as an electrical engineer. I will train and compete in a triathlon, in which I will also help my brother to also train. Zach, Earl, and me plan to go on a 120 mile hiking trip throughtout Land Between the Lakes, with only the things that we can carry on our backs. I will go on several camping trips this year as well as a summer trip to Colorado or Wyoming with my family. I will start my fall semester in college. That is about as far in advance as I currently know.

Time For New Beginings............

--This is a time for reflection as well as celebration. As you look back on the past year and all that has taken place in your life.
For me the year of 2009 has been a great one at that and one that has gone by very very quickly. It seems that as any year it has its ups a downs. The major event that started the year off was the ice storm that was horrific and made a lot of extra work for me, but I made some extra money off it. Went to my Junior Prom. Also I train heavily for a triathlon and competed in that triathlon. I finished my Junior year in June. Went to Perdido Keys, FL for vacation with my family. 2009 was the year for my first official girlfriend. Went camping several times with my family. Started my Senior year off with a bang, riding my bike to school with my stallion clothes on and a brown suit coat. Also I have done a lot of fishing and hunting as I do every year. I have turned eighteen which makes me legally allowed to buy guns, ammunition, and paintball attire. I have completed a little more of college credit that will count toward my degree in Engineering. I can only think of great experiences, if there was any bad, which I'm sure there was, I must have blocked them out for now.
